Hi! I'm Alex.

(she/they)

I'm a non-union actor new to Chicago with a love for singing, writing, Shakespeare, and movement work who spends her spare time running, reading, and exploring the city.

I'm also a photographer!

about me

Alexandra Szabo (she/they) is a graduate of Southern Oregon University with a BFA in Theatre (emphasis on Performance and Minor in Shakespeare Studies).

Her love for singing knows no bounds, and she can often be found in the kitchen dancing or in deep exploration of a movement or gesture.

Growing up, they played ten sports (can you believe it!) but finally settled on swim, bike, run after realizing they are not at all the aggressive type. When she was eleven and twelve, she was lucky to attend a local Shakespeare camp for two weeks with Los Gatos Shakespeare Company where she fell in love with memorizing texts that tickled her brain and running around the sweltering outdoor stage. In a childhood filled with turmoil, these are some of the fondest days of her youth.

Unfortunately, the company shut its doors, but a few years later, encouraged by their mom, they signed up for Drama in their freshman year of high school to help build confidence... it did much more than that, changing her life for the better in every way.

Visiting the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland with her classmates confirmed her love for Shakespeare and introduced her to another charming mountain town where she would spend the next eight years of her life. She now finds herself chasing opportunity in Chicago... but is always looking for an excuse to return to nature. Since you're wondering, if she were a tree, she would be a redwood.

The California in her can't help but love books by John Steinbeck, but some of her other favorites include: Wide Sargasso Sea (Jean Rhys), Boulder (Eva Baltasar), On Strike Against God (Joanna Russ), Play It As It Lays (Joan Didion), Small Worlds (Caleb Azumah Nelson), Station Eleven (Emily St. John Mandel), and The Queens Gambit (Walter Tevis). She is also halfway through reading August Wilson's Century Cycle.

Thank you for visiting!
